Secluded Hawaiian Tropical Oasis with Private Pool

IMG_6022Aloha! Thank you for considering “Hawaii Paradise Found” vacation rental near Pahoa, Hawaii. Our new home and pool (completed in 2015) is a beautiful Indonesian-inspired compound nestled on 11 acres of ancient Hawaiian Ohi’a and Uluhe forest with extensive ornamental palm, bamboo, orchid, bromeliad, citrus and tropical gardens. Once you pass through the private gate, you will be transported to an oasis of tranquility as you drive through a canopy of Monkeypod trees surrounded by many varieties of palms, bamboos, gingers, tropical rhododendrons, and more. We are the closest rental with a private pool to view where rivers of lava from the active Kalapana lava flow in Volcanoes National Park enter the Pacific Ocean.

The compound features three bedrooms, and three and a half baths including the Master Suite located steps away from the main house in a private separate pavilion. And in late December, 2015, we addd a private pool that is 16’x32′. IMG_8069

The upstairs living and dining area of the main house is an elegant, serene space with soaring 24’  high ceilings, wide-plank Acacia wood floors, whitewashed Douglas fir walls and ceilings, with commanding views of the Pacific Ocean over the professionally landscaped gardens and coconut palm tree grove. Custom art from local artists adorns the walls. You can choose to lounge indoors on the comfortable and casual tropical elephant bamboo couches, and put your feet up on a custom, locally made Monkey Pod slab coffee table. Or you may prefer to nap or enjoy cocktails in the tropical rattan sitting area on the spacious covered lanai outdoors. When it’s time to dine, you can enjoy your meal indoors and admire the organic feel of a locally produced Ohi’a tree trunk dining room table base, or you may prefer to dine outdoors on a lovely marble table on the lanai overlooking the ocean and the tropical courtyard garden below.eye_about04

The main home frames the ocean views through an amazing 16 foot wide, custom Indonesian sliding wood and capiz shell “barn door” with separate screens opening onto the 10’ wide wrap around lanai with vintage furnishings and fabrics. The outdoor areas are lit with hand crafted Balinese pendant lamps and hand forged copper sconces for chilled out, relaxing entertaining.

Guest bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms

Downstairs, the main house has two elegantly appointed bedroom suites, each with its own spacious bathrooms and showers, bamboo cabinets, custom art-work, high-end fixtures, sliding pocket doors, 10 foot high ceilings, and overlooking the courtyard gardens, and ocean beyond. Sunrises on the private covered 10’ wide lanai are the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee and plan the adventures that await your stay. The Pineapple Suite features a Queen Size bed, while the Lilikoi Suite (similarly appointed with its own bathroom) offers two twin beds for maximum flexibility and comfort. The linens are all high thread count cotton, and towels are soft and sumptuous.

Gourmet Kitchen

eye_about02The East Side of the Big Island is a foodies’ paradise. Take advantage of the abundant local produce, grass fed beef, amazing fresh fish, and numerous farmers markets to enjoy Hawaii’s culinary diversity and abundance. The fully equipped gourmet kitchen, with high-end stainless steel appliances (oven and cooktop, refrigerator, garbage disposal, and dishwasher), offers every convenience a professional chef or home cook needs.

The upstairs powder room features a marble lotus flower sink, bamboo vanity and high end finishes.

Loft/Entertainment area

The upstairs loft is a great place to enjoy Netflix, Apple TV or Amazon Prime, or Pandora Radio from a wide screen digital Internet TV. Free Wi-Fi and cell phone connectivity are included. The loft offers a cozy spot to read and relax or to do yoga. Or you may just want to search the ocean for whales from this highest point in the house with commanding views.

Separate Master Suite

eye_about05You can’t beat the extra privacy and comfort offered by taking a few short steps to your own Master Suite (Palm Suite). This oasis, separate from the main house, has soaring 16-foot high ceilings, Indonesian Capiz Shell and Mahogany sliding doors, ocean views, a full bath complete with an outdoor shower, as well as covered lanais with Balinese pendant lighting. You can gaze at the courtyard garden, the organic citrus tree grove, the ocean, or at custom artwork from local artists. Daytime or nighttime you will want to enjoy your own private deck for sunbathing, stargazing or yoga. The 10’ x 26’ size of the deck is perfect for individual or group yoga, too.

Botanical Park-like Grounds

eye_about03Since you and your guests will be the only people on our 11-acregated, park-like estate, you will want to stroll through the lush tropical gardens around the house. From there, you can walk down the Vireya (Tropical Rhododendron) Trail that meanders through the Ohi’a and Uluhe forest. It comes ablaze with color from both the Lehua flowers and from the vivid reds, oranges, pinks and yellows on the Vireyas and other flowering plants. The trail comes out at the bottom of the property, and leads you back to the house through a grove of 400 coconut palm trees. You may see some of the sacred white owls, or watch the hawks that live on the property. It’s tough to describe just how serene the tropical breezes are when they blow through a grove of 400 palm trees!

We welcome you to book your next Hawaiian vacation at this truly exceptional residence and tropical gardens.

Enjoy the stunning views of the Red Road on a short 15 minute drive to “Ahalanui Beach Park” (a naturally warmed 95 degree seawater pond) as well as Wai Opae Protected tide-pools in Kapoho where you will find some of the best swimming and snorkeling on the east side of our island. Or just 5 minutes away is Uncle Robert’s, a great place to take in the local fare, with its kava bar and local Hawaiian entertainment. Located a 5 or 10 minute drive from famous Kalapana black sand beach, 6 miles from the quaint village of Pahoa, the property is private, but in a central location for swimming, eating, hiking and other vacation activities. Old Hilo town is a must visit with its colorful farmers market, spectacular Hilo Bay and the Hawaiian Tropical Botanic Gardens, as well as shopping, and interesting museums to learn all about the history of “The Big Island”.

The property is only 40 minutes from Volcanoes National Park, 35 minutes from Hilo airport, and 10 minutes from the quaint village of Pahoa, which has some of the best dining in our area featuring Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Italian, Tex-Mex and local Hawaiian restaurants.

Rates start at $295 per night for two guests.
